East West Rail (EWR) is a major development to establish a strategic railway connecting East Anglia with Central, Southern and Western England.
Specialist Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) contractor Bear Environmental Ltd have been appointed as a Principal ECoW to EWR.
The project plans to build (and rebuild) new and existing lines linking Oxford and Cambridge via Bicester, Milton Keynes (at Bletchley) and Bedford, largely using the trackbed of the former Varsity Line. Bear Environmental will work on the Western Section Phase 2 from Oxford to Bedford on existing lines.
Providing specialist construction phase ecological advise Bear Environmental’s role will be hands on and an entirely site based role focusing on managing teams of juniors ECoWs and surveying all species with significant requirement to work under multiple regulatory licenses.
